Over 1,600 people attended the 'En Puerto Rico hay trabajo' job fair at Plaza Las Américas on Wednesday, where around 80 employers presented more than 2,000 full-time and part-time job opportunities. The event, organized by the Department of Labor and Human Resources (DTRH), aimed to connect job seekers with companies looking to recruit staff. Available vacancies spanned various industries, including food, security, maintenance, construction, health, services, education, hospitality, manufacturing, banking, and sales.
María del Pilar Vélez Casanova, Secretary of the DTRH, highlighted the attendance of people interested in finding work, preparing for new opportunities, or re-entering the labor market. According to Vélez Casanova, this type of initiative allows government services to reach citizens and facilitates direct contact between candidates and employers. In addition to job offers, attendees received guidance from various government agencies and DTRH offices on resources available to support job searching and entering the workforce.
Vélez Casanova stated that the participation of companies and the public’s response reflect the importance of continuing to organize direct recruitment activities, which are part of Governor Jenniffer González Colón’s administration efforts to strengthen the labor force and expand job opportunities in Puerto Rico.
