Police Social Workers Unpaid Since June

Published Oct 2, 2026 · via Radio Isla

Lydael Vega, president of Trabajadores y Trabajadoras Sociales, reported that social workers in the Police Department have not been paid since June. The delay is due to the Police Department's failure to identify budget allocations for their social workers' payments. Currently, the requests are with the Junta de Control Fiscal.

Vega expressed concern that there are doubts about the availability of funds to continue the service. Additionally, social workers at ADFAN have also not been paid, with some receiving only $100 in their last paycheck due to changes in the government's payroll system. Since June, social workers have also not received their meal and mileage allowances due to issues with the new ERP platform.
