787daily is a free, independent English-language guide to Puerto Rico — original guides to the island's food, nightlife, beaches, diving and outdoors, live conditions and data, and the day's Puerto Rico news summarized in English with context. For the news, we read the island's Spanish-language press and publish faithful summaries, each credited and linked back to the outlet that did the reporting.

Why This Exists

787daily started from a simple problem: there was almost no way to follow Puerto Rico's news in English. If you don't read Spanish fluently — whether you're part of the diaspora, a recent arrival, family of someone on the island, or just someone who cares about Puerto Rico — the day's reporting was effectively out of reach.

This site is the thing we wished existed: a clear, honest, daily window into what Puerto Rico's own press is reporting, in a language more people can read. If you've been in that same spot, it's built for you.

What We Are

We are a curator and translator, not a publisher. We do not do original reporting and we do not reproduce articles in full. Every item is a short English summary that points back to the source outlet — outlets like El Nuevo Día, Primera Hora, NotiCel, the Centro de Periodismo Investigativo, and other reputable Puerto Rico newsrooms. The reporting is theirs; our job is to make it findable and readable for English speakers and to send you to the original to read more.

How It Works

1. Ingest. An automated pipeline reads recent articles from Puerto Rico's leading Spanish-language outlets, weighted by how established and reliable each source is.
2. Summarize. An AI model produces a concise English summary that sticks to the facts of the original — no editorializing, no invented detail, no dropping of key context.
3. Check. Each summary is scored for faithfulness to the source and screened for relevance to Puerto Rico; anything that fails is held back rather than published.
4. Link back. Every published summary carries a direct link to the original article so you can read the full reporting at the source.
5. Publish. Summaries are organized by topic and published to this site several times a day.

Editorial Standards

• Faithful, not creative. Summaries represent what the original reported. We don't add opinion, speculation, or facts that aren't in the source.
• Always attributed. Every item names its source outlet and links to the original. We credit the journalists who did the work.
• Puerto Rico–focused. We publish news about Puerto Rico. Items that aren't genuinely about the island are filtered out.
• Summaries, not republication. We never reproduce a source article in full. If you want the whole story, the link takes you there.
• Transparent about the method. Our summaries are AI-assisted and machine-checked for faithfulness. We're upfront about that rather than presenting the work as original journalism.

Corrections

Accuracy matters to us. If a summary misrepresents its source — or if a source has updated or retracted a story — tell us and we'll correct or remove the item promptly. Use the contact form and include the article link and what's wrong.

Independence & Funding

787daily is independent and free to read. We link out to original sources so that readers, credit, and onward traffic reach the newsrooms doing the reporting. The site is built to be low-cost to run. If you'd like to help cover it, there's an optional one-time tip jar at/support/ — that's the only ask, it's entirely optional, and there's no paywall or membership. Any other support option would show up here, plainly, first.
