About 787daily

What We Are

787daily is a free, daily English-language briefing covering Puerto Rico. We read the island's major Spanish-language press — outlets like El Nuevo Día, Primera Hora, Metro PR, and NotiCel — and publish faithful English summaries alongside links to the original reporting.

We are a curator and translator, not a publisher. Every item points back to the source outlet. The reporting is theirs; we just make it accessible to English-speaking readers and the Puerto Rican diaspora who want to stay connected to home.

How the Pipeline Works

  1. Ingest. An automated pipeline reads recent articles from Puerto Rico's leading Spanish-language outlets.
  2. Summarize. An AI model produces a concise, faithful English summary — no editorializing, no omissions of key facts.
  3. Link back. Every summary carries a direct link to the original Spanish article (or the outlet's homepage when a permalink is unavailable).
  4. Publish. Summaries are organized by topic and published daily to this static site.

A confidence score accompanies each item, reflecting how well the summary captures the original. We aim for accuracy and will remove or correct items when errors are identified.

Our Mission

Puerto Rico's story matters beyond the island's shores. We believe that bridging the language gap — without replacing or competing with local journalism — helps more people follow that story. All credit, all traffic, and all ad revenue belong to the original reporters and their outlets.
