Workers in Puerto Rico's theater sector are convening an assembly to discuss the challenges facing the industry and create a collective work agenda. The Assembly of the Theatrical Community in Puerto Rico, scheduled for August 22, 2026, at the Francisco Arriví Theater in Santurce, aims to facilitate dialogue, identify key challenges, and begin building a collective work agenda to strengthen the field.

The event is organized by members of the theatrical community, including Raquel Vázquez, executive director of Teatro Público, who explained that the assembly arose from a need for a broad dialogue space to reunite the sector and articulate common priorities. The assembly will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with registration starting at 9:00 a.m.

The event's purpose is to conduct a collective diagnosis of the current situation of theater in Puerto Rico, make visible the realities faced by those in the theatrical ecosystem, and identify priority topics to guide future organization and collaboration efforts.
