Puerto Rico's Dariana Hollingsworth led the team's offense with 23 points, while Valeria Vázquez added 13 and Adriana Rodríguez scored 11, including six blocks.
Cuba's Evilania Martínez was the top scorer with 19 points. Puerto Rico dominated in attacks, 66-51, but Cuba had an advantage in services, 5-3, and capitalized on 31 errors by Puerto Rico. The loss puts Puerto Rico at 0-1 in the tournament, and they will face host Mexico on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. local time.
