The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced on Wednesday that 37 undocumented migrants were detained in Puerto Rico waters earlier this week. The detentions were made in two separate operations by CBP agents and local authorities on Monday.

In the first operation, 10 migrants from the Dominican Republic, India, and Ecuador, along with a US citizen, were detained in the eastern part of Puerto Rico. In the second operation, 27 migrants from countries including Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti were detained after arriving on shore.

All migrants were taken to the Ramey Border Patrol Station in Aguadilla for processing and deportation. Christopher Hunter, Director of the Caribbean Air and Marine Division of the CBP, stated that these operations demonstrate the agency's commitment to protecting the Caribbean region against illegal maritime activity.
