The municipality of Cayey has launched free rhythmic exercise sessions for seniors as part of its Ruta Dorada program, announced Mayor Rolando Ortiz Velázquez. Sessions are held in three locations: the Municipal Basketball School on Mondays to Thursdays at 8:00 am, the Matón Arriba neighborhood court on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:00 am, and the Torito Plata urbanization on Thursdays at 10:00 am.
According to the mayor, physical activity is vital for the health, mental well-being, and emotional stability of seniors. Rhythmic exercises combine body movement with music and can improve coordination, balance, flexibility, and mobility, while also promoting socialization, reducing stress and anxiety, and creating a sense of community.
Mayor Ortiz Velázquez emphasized that group exercises have a therapeutic effect, releasing endorphins and improving mood.
