The Universidad del Sagrado Corazón (USC) denied that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents had arrested immigrants at the campus gates in Santurce. The denial came after social media posts claimed that ICE agents were conducting operations at the university entrance.
Ismavette Cotto García, the dean of students, stated that no incidents involving ICE agents had been reported on campus. However, community leader Jonathan Hernández reported that an arrest did occur near the campus, specifically at the intersection of Calle San Antonio and Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, and the individual is set to be deported on Friday.
The university emphasized its commitment to the well-being, safety, and respect of all community members and urged everyone to verify information before sharing it to avoid spreading unconfirmed content.
