An altercation occurred Wednesday, August 26, outside the Margarita Janer Palacios School in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, allegedly stemming from a previously reported bullying case that the Department of Education failed to act on. The fight happened in front of students leaving class and was only stopped when school security intervened. Brenda Alomar, mother of the assaulted student, said on Facebook that her son was attacked by an adult woman while trying to protect his girlfriend, leaving both teens affected.

Alomar said she had already reported the underlying situation to Education officials but no action was taken, and she criticized the department for not intervening in time. The Department of Education has not disclosed whether it took any measures against the adult woman involved. The Bayamón District Attorney's Office has not yet determined whether it will file charges against the suspect, whose name has not been released.

NotiCentro obtained video showing the confrontation escalating outside the school into physical violence.
