A 52-year-old woman, Milagritos Reyes Chévere, was fatally struck by a car on PR-129 in Arecibo on Tuesday night. According to the preliminary police report, the 28-year-old driver of a Nissan Versa did not notice Reyes Chévere, who was crossing the road where there is no pedestrian crossing near the Social Security office. The impact caused Reyes Chévere to fall to the ground and suffer fatal injuries.
The driver was given a breath test, which showed a blood alcohol level of 0.00%. The Arecibo Highway Patrol Division and the Arecibo Prosecutor's Office are investigating the incident.
