The Córdova y Fernós Congressional Internship Program, created by the Puerto Rico Legislature, has partnered with George Washington University (GWU) to provide academic credits to university students while they work in Washington D.C. The program has a budget of $500,000 and currently has 12 students participating, who were presented at an event attended by Representative Eddie Charbonier and Senator Carmelo Ríos. The students have been placed in various offices, including those of Congress members, the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration, and other organizations.

As part of the program, they will receive three credits from GWU and visit a U.S. government institution or office once a week. The program was previously coordinated by The Washington Center, but is now being managed by GWU's Director of Strategic Alliances and Executive Education, Martín Velázquez.
