Getting in

  • Entry to the PR-191 North recreation corridor in Río Grande is free and needs no reservation. It is open from 8 AM to 5 PM, and the number of visitors is limited when the parking fills.
  • Free on PR-191 North; El Portal Rainforest Center charges $8 ($4 with an interagency pass)
  • La Coca gate and El Portal are not pick-up points for rideshare apps; visitors have had to walk out for hours. Arrange a ride before you go.
  • Pack out your trash: there are no trash cans on the trails
  • Stay on marked trails
  • Watch for flash floods at every river crossing
