Boston Court Reiterates That LUMA Case Will Be Heard in Puerto Rico Court

The US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in Boston issued an order rejecting LUMA's request to halt Judge Swain's decision to return the case regarding the annulment of LUMA's contract to the Puerto Rico Supreme Court. The government of Governor Jenniffer González stated that LUMA has attempted to delay the final determination of this matter through procedural maneuvers.

As a result of this order, Judge Swain's decision to remit the annulment cases to the Puerto Rico Supreme Court and dismiss the annulment proceedings before the PROMESA court will take effect next Monday. Governor González expressed that LUMA's failures in transmission, including closing offices and eliminating night brigades, have not served the people well, and they will continue to seek judicial victories to remove LUMA and bring in a new operator that fulfills its contractual commitment to provide reliable and affordable electricity.
