Judge Dayra Infante Bosques of the San Juan Tribunal determined cause for arrest against 45-year-old Daniel Acevedo Rivera, who is accused of mistreating, threatening, restricting the freedom, and sexually assaulting his partner. According to the police investigation, Acevedo Rivera allegedly committed these acts against his partner of five months. The victim reported the incidents to the Barrio Obrero police station on June 14, stating that Acevedo Rivera constantly insulted her, threatened her life, and prevented her from leaving their residence. The victim also reported being a victim of sexual assault as part of a pattern of domestic violence.
The San Juan Prosecutor's Office filed charges against Acevedo Rivera for mistreatment, threat, restriction of freedom, and conjugal sexual assault, in violation of the Law for the Prevention and Intervention of Domestic Violence (Law 54). Judge Infante Bosques issued an arrest warrant with a $80,000 bond, and Acevedo Rivera was arrested by the San Juan Arrest Division. He was taken to the Institution Penal 705 in the Bayamón Correctional Complex after failing to post bail.
