Roberto García Sánchez, 32, faces charges for a fatal hit-and-run accident on April 22 in Bayamón, where a 73-year-old pedestrian, Ángel De Jesús Hernández, died. According to the Police, García Sánchez was charged with leaving the scene of an accident where a person died and destroying evidence.
The investigation by the Homicide Division of the Bayamón Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) found that Hernández was about to cross the road when he was hit by García Sánchez, who allegedly abandoned the scene without helping the victim. García Sánchez was brought before Judge Rafael Parés Quiñones, who found cause for arrest and set a $50,000 bond.
García Sánchez was on federal probation at the time of the accident, which was later revoked. He was released to face state charges but was taken into custody after failing to post bond and is being held at the Guaynabo Federal Prison as part of a probation revocation process.
