Agents from the Division of Intelligence and Special Arrests in Bayamón seized firearms and ammunition from a vehicle while investigating a double homicide scene at the Zenón Díaz Valcárcel residential complex in Guaynabo. The vehicle, a 2024 gray Nissan Kicks, was identified by a canine unit dog. Following a search and seizure order authorized by prosecutor Liz López Rivera and issued by Judge Miriam Stephan Acta of the Bayamón Tribunal, two AK-47 rifles, 278 rounds of ammunition, and nine chargers were seized.
The evidence will be analyzed at the Institute of Forensic Sciences to determine if it is linked to the crime scene. The incident occurred at 2:57 p.m. on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of 28-year-old Steven Ortiz Rivera and 20-year-old Zadiel Morales Sierra, who were washing a car at the time of the shooting. Neither victim had a criminal record.
A 27-year-old man was also injured in the shooting and is in stable condition. The motive for the crime has not been established. Agent Jorge Meléndez and prosecutor Alberto Cruz are leading the investigation.
