Over 2,400 students graduated from the University of Puerto Rico's Río Piedras campus, with many expressing their rejection of President Zayira Jordán Conde's absence and the budget cuts imposed by the Fiscal Oversight Board. Jordán Conde did not attend the ceremony, citing a desire to preserve its solemnity, but her absence was met with boos and chants of 'Lucha sí, entrega no' from the crowd.

Dyamar Cruz, president of the Student Council, called Jordán Conde's absence 'cowardly' and urged her to resign. The ceremony featured protests and signs with messages such as 'La UPR se defiende' and 'Fuera Zayira'.

Jordán Conde stated that she will continue to work for the university, but also prioritize the solemnity of graduation ceremonies. The event was marked by a tense atmosphere, with some attendees distributing flyers inviting others to show their 'indignation' against Jordán Conde.
