A jury found José González Rosado, 41, guilty of subjecting his 15-year-old daughter to a pattern of physical and emotional abuse from April 2023 to August 2024. The trial, which began on May 19, included testimony from eight witnesses, including the victim, and presented expert, testimonial, and documentary evidence. Judge Fernando Chalas González of the San Juan Tribunal scheduled the sentencing hearing for August 13.

Secretary of Justice Lourdes L. Gómez Torres stated that children have the right to grow up in a safe and violence-free environment and that those who fail to protect them will face consequences.
