Royal Canin, a pet food and product brand, has chosen Puerto Rico as the platform to launch a line of supplements and probiotics for pets. The new line includes nutritional alternatives to support digestive, immune, joint, and dermatological health, as well as clinically studied probiotics. According to Gina Cruz, General Manager of Royal Canin Puerto Rico, the island was selected due to the strong bond between families and their pets, as well as the quality and preparation of the local veterinary community.
The launch responds to a growing trend in modern veterinary medicine that promotes preventive and nutritional strategies as part of pet health care. Royal Canin has led the development of nutritional solutions based on scientific observation of the specific needs of dogs and cats for over five decades. The introduction of this new category represents an important evolution for the brand.
A recent survey by the Cámara de Mercadeo, Industria y Distribución de Alimentos (MIDA) found that cat food was the item with the highest increase in non-food purchases, and the pet segment, along with baby purchases, was the segment with the highest growth in terms of consumer spending.
