The Puerto Rico Police announced the arrest of Yaniel Cirino, 33, one of the 12 most wanted individuals on the island for first-degree murder. Cirino was captured in Syracuse, New York, in connection with a 2017 murder case in Naguabo. According to the investigation, Cirino allegedly shot and killed Kemuel Vázquez Lozada, 22, on November 2, 2017, in the Estancias de Húcares community.
In 2025, authorities filed charges in absentia for first-degree murder, and Judge Liza M. Durán set a $1 million bail. After his arrest, Cirino was transferred to Puerto Rico, taken to the San Juan Court, and given the required warnings.
As he did not post bail, he was admitted to the Bayamón penal institution 705. Cirino had a history of domestic violence. The investigation was supervised by Sergeant Luis Torres under the direction of Lieutenant Agustín Crespo, and Agent Héctor Parrilla Freytes was in charge of the investigation and arrest.
