Updated Jun 30, 2026 · via El Nuevo Día

Former NBA player and Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony will be the ambassador for the YMCA Invitational Golf Tournament 2026, a charity event to be held on August 28 at the Hyatt Grand Reserve Golf Club in Río Grande, Puerto Rico. The tournament aims to raise funds for the YMCA of San Juan's community programs, which include wellness, education, youth leadership, sports, and community development initiatives.

As the tournament's ambassador, Anthony will support the organization's fundraising and awareness efforts. The event is one of the YMCA of San Juan's main fundraising activities, and this year's campaign will use the message 'Cambia vidas, como Carmelo Anthony, un ‘birdie’ a la vez' (Change lives, like Carmelo Anthony, one 'birdie' at a time) to highlight the impact of each registration on community development projects.

Registrations for teams and sponsorship opportunities are now available, and interested parties can obtain more information by calling 787-417-1222 or 787-709-6423. Allan Charlotten Rivera, president of the YMCA of San Juan's Board of Directors, expressed his gratitude for Anthony's participation, stating that it reflects the values that drive the YMCA's mission and helps expand the organization's impact in the communities it serves.
