The Disney Destiny, the latest ship from Disney Cruise Line, made its inaugural stop in San Juan as part of its Caribbean itinerary, bringing an estimated 3,466 passengers and 1,555 crew members. The cruise ship is scheduled to make three additional visits to San Juan during the 2026-2027 season, with each visit expected to generate approximately $1.2 million in economic impact for Puerto Rico.
According to Clarivette Díaz, general manager of San Juan Cruise Port, the arrival of the Disney Destiny demonstrates San Juan's continued appeal as a destination for major cruise lines. The ship's visit is a result of the modernization and investment program implemented by San Juan Cruise Port since its operations began in February 2024, which has enhanced the port's capacity to accommodate new-generation vessels.
The program, led by Governor Jenniffer González, has yielded excellent results, increasing the port's offerings and attracting new cruise lines and routes.
