US Attorney for Puerto Rico, William Stephen Muldrow, has officially resigned from his position, effective July 7, after a 37-year career in the US Department of Justice. During his tenure, Muldrow oversaw several high-profile cases involving public corruption and organized crime. One notable case was the arrest of Representative María Milagros 'Tata' Charbonier and her family members in 2020, who were charged with conspiracy, theft of federal funds, bribery, and money laundering.

Charbonier was later sentenced to eight years in prison and ordered to pay $136,000 in restitution. Another case involved the arrest of Guaynabo Mayor Ángel Pérez Otero in 2021, who was accused of accepting $5,000 in bribes in exchange for contracts. Muldrow's office also handled other cases, including one involving a conspiracy to commit fraud and another involving corruption in the Puerto Rico government.

Muldrow's resignation comes after a successful career in the Department of Justice, and his legacy will be marked by his efforts to combat corruption in Puerto Rico.
