Lena Burke to Pay Tribute to Celia Cruz in Symphonic Concert

The Arturo Somohano Philharmonic Orchestra announced that Cuban singer-songwriter Lena Burke will be the guest artist for the symphonic concert 'Azúcar: 100 años de Celia Cruz', a special production to celebrate the centenary of the birth of the legendary Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz. The concert will take place on Saturday, August 15 at 8:30 p.m. at the Festival Hall of the Centro de Bellas Artes de Santurce. Lena Burke, with over three decades of experience, is recognized as one of the most outstanding voices in Latin music.

The concert's producer, Rafo Muñiz, highlighted Burke's qualities as an interpreter, her stage presence, and her connection to Cuban music. The concert will feature iconic songs from Celia Cruz's repertoire, including 'Quimbara', 'La vida es un carnaval', 'La negra tiene tumbao', and 'Que le den candela', in specially arranged versions for the orchestra. The production will also include visual elements and a stage design to transport the audience through the life and legacy of Celia Cruz.
