59-year-old driver crashes into electric pole in Guánica

A 59-year-old woman, Claribel Santiago Ramos, was seriously injured after crashing her vehicle into an electric pole on PR-116 in the Ensenada neighborhood of Guánica on Thursday night. The accident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. at kilometer 21.0 of the road.

According to the preliminary investigation, Ramos was driving a 1994 Hyundai Excel from east to west when she lost control of the vehicle due to unknown reasons and crashed into the pole. She was treated by paramedics at the scene and then transported by air ambulance to the Centro Médico in Río Piedras for specialized treatment.

The passenger, a 69-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. The accident is being investigated by Agent Myriam Vega of the Ponce area's Highway Patrol Division.
