The US Army has announced that Fuerte Buchanan will celebrate the 250th anniversary of US Independence on July 4th with 50 cannon shots and a fireworks display. The event, which will take place in the Post Exchange parking area, will be open to the public and will include live music, family entertainment, food, a military enlistment and reenlistment ceremony, and a fireworks show.
The celebration will start at 6:00 p.m. and the public can enter the facility from 5:00 p.m. through the PR-28 road entrance. The cannon shots are part of a military tradition used to pay honors during special ceremonies and commemorations.
The Army informed residents in the metropolitan area about the event to avoid concern or confusion about the sounds that may be heard during the celebration.
