23-year-old motorcyclist dies after crashing into concrete barrier

A 23-year-old woman, Génesis M. Torres Núñez, died Sunday night after crashing her motorcycle into a concrete barrier on PR-143 in Villalba. The accident occurred around 9:00 p.m. at kilometer 37.8, near the Ortiga cockfighting arena.

Torres Núñez was driving a 2018 Honda CRF-450 at a speed that prevented her from maintaining control, and she suffered severe injuries from the impact. Her partner took her to the San Cristóbal hospital in Villalba, where Dr. Ketzya González Vázquez certified her death due to the trauma.

Torres Núñez was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The investigation is being led by Agent Gustavo De Jesús of the Ponce Highway Patrol Division, along with prosecutor Natalia Pizarro. Villalba Mayor Dan Santiago expressed his condolences on social media, revealing that Torres Núñez was the daughter of his cousin, Raquel Núñez, and leaves behind a two-year-old child.
