The Puerto Rico Department of Public Safety (DSP) announced via social media this afternoon that forest firefighting personnel are responding to fires reported in the municipalities of Ponce, Toa Alta, Caguas, Juncos, and Canóvanas. Due to smoke present in the affected areas, the DSP urged nearby communities to take safety precautions, avoid unnecessary exposure to smoke, and stay attentive to instructions from authorities.
The department specifically recommended that people with respiratory conditions take extra precautionary measures.
