The Puerto Rican Association for Help to Patients with Psoriasis (APAPP) has launched a campaign called 'Los abrazos son contagiosos, la psoriasis no' to promote solidarity, empathy, and combat stigma around psoriasis. The campaign, which will run on APAPP's social media platforms from July to August, aims to educate adolescents and young people about the condition, dispel myths, and promote understanding of the challenges faced by those living with psoriasis.
APAPP's executive director, Leticia López, stated that the campaign seeks to educate, promote compassion, and remind people that a person should not be judged by the appearance of their skin. The campaign will feature educational videos, images, and interactive content, including testimonials from patients and dermatologists.
It will cover topics such as what psoriasis is, its symptoms, and the relationship between skin care and sun exposure. The campaign also aims to address the misconception that psoriasis is contagious.
