Updated Jul 7, 2026 · via El Nuevo Día

Puerto Rico's Department of Education (DE) has signed a collaborative agreement with nonprofit Techno Inventors, Inc. to give thousands of public school students and teachers free access to educational experiences in robotics, programming, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, video game design and other disciplines. The partnership incorporates the eSTREAM model (science, technology, robotics, engineering, arts, mathematics, and eSports). Techno Inventors will provide curricula, educational resources, digital platforms, and learning experiences aimed at building technical skills and competencies such as critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and leadership.

The initiative will allow participants to represent Puerto Rico in local and international technology olympiads and competitions, access specialized online courses, and strengthen academic and professional preparation. It will also promote participation by special education students through adapted methodologies. César Cabrera, chief executive officer of Techno Inventors, Inc., said the agreement aims to develop local talent for an innovation-driven economy.

Education Secretary Eliezer Ramos Parés said the deal continues efforts by the Secretariat of Academic Affairs on robotics, STEM, and science. The DE will promote participation in Techno Inventors' programs, workshops, and competitions, and facilitate school spaces for their development.
