82-year-old Puerto Rican woman chases emotional dream by playing Powerball

Catalina Figueroa Rivera, an 82-year-old woman from Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, plays Powerball with a specific dream in mind: to own a wooden house in the mountains, surrounded by trees and a spring, where she can breathe easier due to her heart and lung problems. She hopes to win a big enough prize to also buy a house for someone to take care of her and to buy land to give to people without homes.

Despite the low probability of winning, Catalina continues to play, driven by her emotional desire for a peaceful life. She shared her life story, marked by the absence of her two children who left when they were young and never came back.

Catalina worked in the clothing manufacturing industry her whole life and now spends her days looking out the window, writing stories and novels, and dreaming. She recently bought Powerball tickets at a San Juan supermarket, and before playing her third automatic game, she gave the ticket to the person she was talking to, saying 'If I win, you win too'
