Police arrested Luis Amézquita Falú, a federal fugitive listed among the DEA's most wanted, on Saturday at a business called La Nueva Fría in San Juan. Police said Amézquita Falú is a suspect in several killings that occurred in San Juan and Carolina. The arrest took place during an inspection of the business as part of a broader operational plan targeting several establishments in the capital.
During the intervention, authorities seized a .40-caliber P80 pistol with a Glock 23 slide, three magazines, 40 rounds of .40-caliber ammunition, and $765 in cash. Agents also found two additional firearms: a 9mm Taurus model 62C pistol with one magazine and 13 rounds, and a .45-caliber Glock model 30S with two magazines and 37 rounds. The operation involved agents from the Metropolitan and Arecibo Drug Divisions, personnel from the San Juan Municipal Impact Unit, the K-9 Canine Unit, and the Gaming Commission.
Authorities said the case will be referred to the on-duty prosecutor for possible filing of charges.
