A Municipal Police officer allegedly shot a female driver on Friday afternoon during a dispute at the intersection of PR-31 and Calle 1 in the La Fe community of Naguabo. Lt.
William de Jesús of the Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) in Humacao told El Nuevo Día that, preliminarily, the incident stemmed from an argument between the officer and the woman while both were driving, occurring near what he described as a somewhat dangerous entrance to the community. The names of the officer and the injured woman have not been released, and De Jesús did not say whether the officer was on or off duty at the time.
Police received an alert via a call to the 9-1-1 Emergency System reporting a woman shot Friday afternoon; responding officers found the victim, a 22-year-old woman, who received medical assistance. She remains hospitalized at the Centro Médico in Río Piedras, where her condition is described as stable.
