A serious accident occurred on the Rafael Martínez Nadal expressway, involving two vehicles, and left two people injured. The incident happened at kilometer 5.5, near the PR-01 highway towards Guaynabo, before the toll booth.
According to preliminary information from the Police, an 83-year-old driver, Julio Ortiz García, was driving a 2020 Kía Seltos against traffic, from Guaynabo to Caguas, when he collided head-on with a 2005 Hyundai Tucson driven by 20-year-old Juan Rodríguez León. The passengers injured were Nirka García Muriel, 85, and Amarilis Robert Resto, 20, who were taken to the Centro Médico de Puerto Rico in Río Piedras.
The condition of the injured is not reported, according to Lieutenant Jorge Alicea of the Autopista Buchanan Division. Traffic has been reopened on the expressway.
