The Puerto Rico Government Retirement Board announced that eligible pensioners and beneficiaries will begin receiving a $100 medication bonus, to be deposited by July 15. Executive director Arnaldo J. Ortiz Miranda said the payment is being deposited automatically into the bank accounts where pensioners normally receive their pensions, so no application is required.

The disbursement totals approximately $10.97 million and will benefit 114,553 pensioners and beneficiaries from the Central Government, the Judiciary, and the Teachers' retirement system. Ortiz Miranda noted that, in addition to the medication bonus, the Retirement Board offers other legally established benefits for eligible pensioners, including a $100 monthly employer contribution toward medical plans and a $200 Christmas bonus. Pensioners seeking more information on eligibility or available benefits can contact the Board via WhatsApp at 787-664-5236 or email servicioretiro@retiro.pr.gov.

Separately, the official reported that the Government approved an $18 million transfer to cover non-recurring expenses related to reimbursement payments of contributions and benefits for participants under Laws 447-1951, 1-1990, 305-1999, and 160-2013.
