A Ponce court judge found probable cause to arrest a 26-year-old man in connection with the killing of Alma Daliz Torres Nazario, 40, on February 18 in Yauco. Police identified the suspect as Diamond Luis Toledo Morales, a Ponce resident, who faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and weapons law violations. Torres Nazario's body was found inside her vehicle around 4:53 a.m. on PR-359, at the entrance to the Cambalache neighborhood.
Police said she was driving on that road with other people when the accused approached in a moving vehicle and fired several shots from inside it, killing her. Investigators did not establish whether the victim and the accused had any relationship, nor the circumstances leading to the attack. Judge Sostycelie Galarza Quiñones of the Ponce court set a total bail of $6.4 million, which Toledo Morales did not post; he was sent to the Las Cucharas Correctional Complex in Ponce to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 28, 2026.
The case was investigated by agent Héctor Cappas Mateo alongside prosecutor Limarie Cobián.
