Puerto Rico's Tourism Company announced that the Legend of the Seas, Royal Caribbean's new Icon-class ship and the world's largest cruise ship, will make two scheduled stops at the Ponce pier during its inaugural itinerary, on March 31 and April 14, 2027. The ship, entering service in 2026, can carry up to 7,000 guests plus a crew of about 2,350.

Officials estimate the two Ponce port calls will generate roughly $1 million in economic impact, benefiting local commerce, restaurants, tour operators, and small and medium businesses in Ponce and the southern region. Governor Jenniffer González Colón called the ship's arrival "an important vote of confidence in Puerto Rico" and its southern tourism potential, saying the administration continues efforts to strengthen the cruise industry and boost municipal economic activity.

Tourism Company Executive Director Willianette Robles Cancel said the selection of the Ponce pier shows major cruise lines' interest in expanding operations on the island and supports the strategy of diversifying tourism to regional ports. The ship will arrive in Ponce at 10:00 a.m. and depart at 6:00 p.m. on each date, giving visitors time to explore the historical, cultural, culinary, and natural attractions of Ponce and nearby southern municipalities.
