Air Quality & Saharan Dust · islandwide
Several times a year, the Saharan Air Layer — a plume of dry, dusty air — crosses the Atlantic and settles over the Caribbean (locally, la calima). It mutes the sky to a milky haze, lifts particulate readings, and can irritate eyes and airways, but it also tends to suppress tropical storm development.
Air quality & dust via Open-Meteo / Copernicus CAMS. For official guidance see AirNow.gov.
