A 23-year-old woman driver, suspected of fatally striking a pedestrian around 8:54 p.m. Saturday in front of Bayamón's city hall on Highway #2, turned herself in to authorities.

The crash was initially investigated as a hit-and-run because the vehicle involved was not found at the scene. The driver later showed up at the Bayamón West police station around 11:40 p.m. and told police she had hit something or someone while driving on Highway #2.

She was given a breathalyzer test, which came back negative for alcohol. Officer Javier Esteves Matta, assigned to the Bayamón Highway Patrol Division, and prosecutor Carlos Rodríguez Rodríguez are handling the investigation.
