Rafael 'Raphy' Pina Nieves, a music producer, has requested the federal court to terminate his supervised release a year early. The motion was filed on July 2, but the reasons for the request are not yet known. Pina Nieves is scheduled to complete his sentence on July 18, 2027.
The federal judge, Francisco A. Besosa, has given the federal prosecution and the Probation Office until July 16 to present their positions. The probation officer, Sugeily Rivera Suazo, has recommended denying Pina Nieves' request, citing that he has maintained a stable residence and worked continuously in music production, managing his wife Natti Natasha's career.
The officer also verified that Pina Nieves has completed community service hours, paid special monetary assessments, and maintains communication with his probation officer as required. Pina Nieves is also a business owner in Puerto Rico and has adequate prosocial support.
