Puerto Rico Police reported that a joint overnight operation targeting nightlife businesses in San Juan resulted in four arrests, the seizure of three firearms, nearly $30,000 in fines, and the disconnection of electrical service at at least 13 establishments. As part of the "Zero Tolerance for Crime" plan, police worked with the Municipality of San Juan, the Department of the Treasury (Hacienda), and LUMA Energy to inspect businesses in Río Piedras, Cupey, Avenida 65 de Infantería, and the La Perla neighborhood in Old San Juan. At Coralis Place in Cupey, Ederik Omill Robles Caraballo, 21, and Francisco Javier Colón Acevedo, 25, were arrested for alleged weapons violations after being found with modified Glock pistols capable of automatic fire, along with magazines and ammunition; a third pistol and a Toyota Venza were also seized.
At Zoila's Café in Río Piedras, Marta Almeida Altagracia, 42, was arrested after allegedly assaulting a sergeant and an officer. In La Perla, Jesús Hernández Ríos, 26, was arrested after marijuana, cocaine, pills, and $340 in cash were seized. Agencies also cited businesses for Public Order Code and Internal Revenue Code violations and unauthorized use of premises.
LUMA disconnected illegal electrical connections at Tu Nuevo Ambiente and 13 La Perla businesses, including Yo Perreo Sola, Mundo Aparte, and Bar Panda. Total fines reached $29,900.
