A 45-year-old man reported a fraud incident to the Puerto Nuevo Precinct police at 1:08 pm on Monday. According to the complainant, on July 12th at around 8:30 pm, he was contacted by someone via phone messages and invited to participate in a Master's Basketball Tournament with a $105 registration fee.
The victim sent the payment via ATH Móvil to the provided phone number but was unable to contact the person again, feeling scammed. Officer Katiria Álamo from the Puerto Nuevo Precinct investigated the case and referred it to the San Juan CIC.
The incident occurred in the Caparra Terrace urbanization in Puerto Nuevo.
