The documentary 'Psiquis: Un Giro Decolonial' by Puerto Rican filmmaker Tito Román Rivera will be released for free on YouTube on July 25. The film, the third feature from Caserio Films, coincides with the anniversary of the killings of independence activists Arnaldo Darío Rosado and Carlos Soto Arriví in 1978, as well as the death of nationalist Ángel Esteban Antongiorgi in 1938.
The documentary aims to foster a deep dialogue about collective traumas generated by political violence, colonial subordination, and their consequences on daily life in Puerto Rico. Román Rivera stated that the film seeks to create a conversation about the island's political condition, encouraging the Puerto Rican people to discuss colonialism from an informed and independent perspective.
The documentary has already been exhibited in several Latin American countries and US cities, offering a message of hope and presenting tools for individual and collective healing through interviews, research, and reflections.
