A nurse at Hospital San Carlos Borromeo in Moca allegedly admitted to treating her brother without being on duty, according to patient Coralys Vega. The nurse, who has not been identified, reportedly entered a treatment room in the emergency area, announced that she was not on duty and was only there to treat her brother, and proceeded to take his vital signs and administer medication without following proper protocol.
She also asked other nurses to sign documents under their names, as she was not authorized to sign them herself. Vega reported the incident and claimed to have felt threatened by security personnel who told her to delete a video she had recorded of the incident.
The hospital has stated that no employee is authorized to provide clinical care outside of their assigned duties without proper authorization and that an investigation has been initiated to address the matter. The hospital emphasized that this behavior does not represent their policies or standards and that administrative measures will be taken accordingly.
