According to a criminal complaint, Reynaldo Fernández González confessed to an FBI agent that he doubted the plan to rob a pawn shop in Quebradillas, but took advantage of the victim and shot them in the back. The FBI officially took jurisdiction over Fernández González, who was arrested on July 28 by State Police officers.
Fernández González faces possible federal grand jury charges for robbery to interfere with interstate commerce and murder for using a firearm in the commission of a violent crime. The FBI complaint revealed that Fernández González's actions led to the death of an employee at the pawn shop.
