The Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for Puerto Rico's manufacturing sector increased to 54.1 in June 2026, a 1.7-point increase compared to the previous month's 52.4. The PMI is a collaborative effort between the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association and the Puerto Rico Institute of Statistics, surveying companies with 50 or more employees to measure the economy's health. A reading above 50 suggests expansion in the manufacturing sector.
Although this is an improvement from May, it falls short of the March mark of 56.1. New Orders and Production increased compared to the previous month, with Employment, Production, New Orders, and Supplier Deliveries at or above the 50 threshold. The main challenges faced by companies in the past month included operational issues, resource constraints, and public services.
