Governor Jenniffer González Colón signed an Executive Order establishing a committee to outline public policies aimed at strengthening clinical research, promoting controlled clinical trials, and expanding the scientific capacity of Puerto Rico's healthcare system in emerging therapies. The Secretary of the Department of Health, Víctor Ramos, will lead a group of professionals tasked with presenting a report with recommendations and viability for integrating into the investigative current before presenting proposals to the federal government to bring to life treatments initially aimed at veterans suffering from emotional disorders.

The committee will also establish a Scientific and Regulatory Advisory Committee, attached to the Department of Health. González Colón stated that scientific innovation represents an opportunity to transform the future of Puerto Rico's healthcare system and that the island must be prepared to participate in research that will define tomorrow's treatments.
