From Opera Stage to Cinema: César Abreu Celebrates 20 Seasons at the Metropolitan Opera

Published Aug 8, 2026 · via Metro PR

Puerto Rican artist César Abreu, a former member of Menudo, has marked 20 seasons with the Metropolitan Opera in New York, a milestone that few artists achieve. Abreu made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera 20 years ago and has since become a solid presence in the institution.

He participated in productions such as La Fille du Régiment and Turandot during the 2025-2026 season. Abreu considers this anniversary a starting point for a new phase in his career, focusing on cinema, artistic direction, and immersive experiences.

Born in Bayamón, Abreu began his artistic career at age seven, appearing on TV shows like Súper Sábados and later joining Menudo in 1990. He credits his experience in dance for influencing his approach to projects, whether on stage, in film, or in immersive experiences.
