Carlos González has resigned as the coach of the Gigantes de Carolina-Canóvanas basketball team after five seasons, during which he led the team to its first national championship in 2023. Assistant coach Leo Arill also confirmed his departure.
González had been with the team since the 2022 season and, in addition to the 2023 championship, led the team to a semifinal in 2024 and three quarterfinal series in 2022, 2025, and 2026. The team's owner, Héctor Horta, expressed gratitude to González and Arill for their work and dedication, stating that they will always be part of the team's family.
The Gigantes have begun the search for a new coach and will announce details about the selection process soon. González and Arill's resignation comes after a successful period with the team, with Horta acknowledging their role in the team's achievements.
