Six months after the death of legendary musician Willie Colón, his music will return to Puerto Rico with a special emotional charge. His son, Alejandro Miguel Colón, will participate in 'Idilio: La música de Willie Colón' on September 19, 2026, at the Sala de Festivales del Centro de Bellas Artes de Santurce.
The concert will feature the Orquesta Filarmónica de Puerto Rico Arturo Somohano, directed by Ángel 'Cucco' Peña. Miguel Colón, 42, remembers his father's last performance in Puerto Rico at the Coca-Cola Music Hall in August 2025, where he saw his father 'very focused and enjoying himself on stage.' Miguel recalls a special moment during the song 'Julia' when his father invited his mother on stage and they shared a heartfelt hug.
For the family, returning to Puerto Rico with this tribute has deep meaning, as Willie Colón 'always carried the island in his heart' and was proud to be Puerto Rican. Miguel and his family support sharing this experience with the public to celebrate Willie Colón's life and music.
